Granddaddy Purple is an indica marijuana strain that goes by many different names, including "Grand Daddy Purp," "Granddaddy Purps," "GDP," and "Grandaddy Purple Kush." Popularized in 2003 by Ken Estes, Granddaddy Purple (or GDP) is a famous indica cross of Mendo Purps, Skunk, and Afghanistan. Other people claim it is Big Bud x Purple Urkle. Either way, this California staple inherits a complex grape ano berry aroma from its Purps and Ghani heritage. GDP flowers bloom in shades of deep purple, a contrasting backdrop for its snow-like dusting of white crystal resin. Its potent effects are clearly detectable in both mind and body, delivering a fusion of cerebral euphoria and physical relaxation. While your thoughts may float in a dreamy buzz, your body is more likely to find itself fixed in one spot for the duration of GDP's effects. Granddaddy Purple is typically pulled off the shelf for consumers looking to combat pain, stress, insomnia, appetite loss, and muscle spasms. GDP blesses growers with massive yields which are ready for harvest following a 60 day flowering time indoors.

What it is

Granddaddy Purple, also called GDP, Grand Daddy Purp or Granddaddy Purple Kush, is a California indica popularized by Ken Estes in 2003. The commonly cited lineage is Mendo Purps crossed with Skunk and Afghanistan, though some growers trace it to Big Bud and Purple Urkle. This is a 7 gram jar of top shelf indoor flower, so buds tend to arrive dense, well trimmed and heavy with color.

Taste and how people describe it

GDP is known for grape and berry notes over a sweet, earthy base, with a little spice from the Afghani side. The smoke is usually smooth and full, and the flavor carries into the exhale.

People commonly report:

A heavy, settled body feel
A slow, relaxed headspace rather than a racing one
An evening lean, since it is not a get moving strain

Effects vary from person to person and from batch to batch.

Good to know

Indoor flower holds its terpenes best in a sealed jar kept away from heat and light. Start with a small amount and give it time before going back for more, especially with an indica this classic. Label numbers on flower shift between harvests, so read the jar you receive. Available for delivery across the San Fernando Valley from our Van Nuys shop to adults 21 and over.
